Christina Pasion traveled from Baltimore to the Philippines in December to learn more about the conditions that drive Filipinos to seek work abroad. Seven months later, Philippine authorities arrested the 27-year-old activist and accused her of links to the New People’s Army, the armed wing of the country’s communist insurgency.
