Multnomah County delivers first onsite apology for desecrating Chinese graves at Portland cemetery
About 3,000 Chinese immigrants and Chinese Americans were buried in the Block 14 section of the cemetery between the late 19th century and early 20th century.
Multnomah County officials delivered their formal apology at Portland’s Lone Fir Cemetery for the first time on Saturday, marking the start of memorial construction at a burial site where the county desecrated Chinese graves in the 1950s.
