The latest aggregate wealth data puts Asian Americans on top, but masks major divides

New economic data place Asian Americans at the top of the nation’s racial wealth rankings, while income, homeownership and financial-security measures show large differences across communities.

On paper, Asian Americans are doing remarkably well when it comes to wealth. According to the Federal Reserve’s latest Survey of Consumer Finances, Asian households have a median net worth of $536,000, compared with $285,000 for White families, $61,600 for Hispanic families and $44,900 for Black families.
